Pittsburgh’s Illegal Gun Ordinances Struck Down

Chief Counsel Joshua Prince of the Firearms Industry Consulting Group, a division of Civil Rights Defense Firm, P.C., was successful in obtaining a decision by Judge James of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, striking down all three of Pittsburgh’s illegal ordinances – 2018-1218, 2018-1219, and 2018-1220 – which unlawfully regulated firearms and ammunition in the City of Pittsburgh.

As Judge James wrote:

The City has expended a large amount of energy attempting to categorize the restricted behavior in such a way that it is not expressly prohibited by Section 6120 of the UFA. Despite the City’s effort to avoid the specific preemption set forth in Section 6120, they are not able to avoid the obvious intent of the Legislature to preempt this entire field. The

    I hope all gun owners take note of the 800+ demonstrators we brought to bear on city council, the 100+ people that spoke in the meetings, and of course the tireless work of yourself, Kim, and others.

    We do not have to accept these violations of the PA Constitution and our laws. We need to make these kind of actions political suicide for future politicians.
