DDTC Reduces ITAR Fee Through April 30, 2021!

While the recent changes to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) have dramatically reduced the number of Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) who must register, recently the Directorate of Defense Trade Control (DDTC) announced that it will reduce the registration and renewal fees through April 30, 2021.

Specifically, the registration fee for all new registrants between May 1, 2020 and April 30, 2021 will be $500.00. Further, the renewal fee for all Tier I and Tier II registrants, whose original expiration date is between May 31, 2020 and April 30, 2021, will be $500.00.

As DDTC declares

This will allow new registrants and existing registrants in Tiers I and II, many of which are small and medium-sized enterprises, to receive a reduced registration fee over the course of the coming year…We anticipate that this temporary reduction in fees for Tier I, Tier II, and new registrants will save regulated industry over $20 million over the course of the coming year.

DDTC has also issued a temporary suspension of the requirement in ITAR Parts 122 and 129 to renew registrations as manufacturers, exporters, and/or brokers and pay a fee on an annual basis by extending ITAR registrations expiring on February 29, March 31, April 30, May 31, and June 30, 2020 for two months from the original date of expiration.
