The State of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation

by Karl Voigt, Esquire

As many of our readers know, we have for years encouraged our clients to consult with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). OVR can help a disabled worker re-enter the workforce. Many of our clients have been reeducated with the counseling and financial assistance of OVR.

I checked up with our bustling local office to see if governmental budget cuts have affected their daily operations. They are certainly still accepting applications. In Berks County alone, they received 120-150 requests every month. However, an applicant may have to wait 6-12 weeks just to have a counselor assigned. And that’s just the initial wait; the application process can take months.

To those who are interested, there is no time like the present to inquire. You can learn more at http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/vocational_rehabilitation/10356.
