Governor Wolf Signs HB 1188 Permitting Hunting with Thermal and Night Vision Devices in Pennsylvania!

Today, Governor Wolf signed HB 1188, which removes the restriction on the use of thermal and night vision devices for hunting in Pennsylvania! As a result, it will take effect in 60 days.

As I discussed in our prior article, Bill to Permit Hunting with Thermal and Night Vision Devices Headed to Governor Wolf’s Desk!, HB 1188 eliminates/deletes all of 34 Pa.C.S. 2380(b)(1)(ii); thereby, permitting the use of infrared, thermal, and other light or particle beams onto the target, unless otherwise prohibited. This is a monumental step forward in the protection of hunters, as many forms of game can or can only be taken at night and permitting the use of thermal and night vision will ensure the safety of those hunters.

If you or someone you know has questions about Pennsylvania’s Game Code, is charged with a Game Code violation, or are facing revocation of your hunting license, contact us today to discuss your rights!
